Join Niamh Bruce on this 5 day course, which will equip you to build a focused, reflective and meditative environment in the classroom, using simple, applied, mindfulness practices.

Designed mainly for primary school teachers, it is also suitable for parents, youth workers and those who work with children. The Art of Stillness in the Classroom will assist you in developing your own mindfulness practice and you will learn engaging ways of introducing mindfulness to children using a cross-curricular approach.

No mindfulness experience is required.

This course is recognised by the Department of Education and Skills and attendance on the course qualifies Primary school teachers for EPV Days.

Dates: July 16th to July 20th 2018 – 9am to 2pm

Tea and coffee provided. Bring a packed lunch or lunch available locally.

 

Your Facilitator: Niamh Bruce

Niamh Bruce Former Executive Director and Director of Programmes for the Sanctuary (A non-profit meditation centre in Smithfield area www.sanctuary.ie) for over 10 years. She now continues to work for the Sanctuary and others on a freelance and consultancy basis.

A mindfulness facilitator in several forms since 2005, Niamh has also developed several programmes. With a strong interest and role in Mindfulness and Young People, Niamh has co-developed the Sanctuary Warrior Programme for young people who are finding the journey to maturity and social integration challenging. Working with young people and mindfulness since 2005. Also co-developed and delivers the M2M training for the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI). Niamh is also a teacher trainer for the Mindfulness in Schools Programme (MiSP) and the .b (dotb) programme for 11-17 year olds and is the voice on their animations used both here, the UK and America. Co-developed and delivered level 7 DIT module in Mindfulness. Niamh also delivers CPD programmes for Social Workers, Health services and private sector among others.

Additional information: Trained in MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) she is also a ‘.b’ (pron. ‘Dotb’) teacher and trains teachers in the Mindfulness for Schools Curriculum MiSP and is the voice of the app and animations used in the UK, Ireland and US. Presented at several National Conferences on Mindfulness, written articles, published book and CDs on the area. Above all has a daily practice and a passion for mindfulness and also for the sharing and learning from others, in the challenge and nourishment of integrating mindfulness into our lives.
