The UK based Mindfulness in Schools Project has a vision that every child possesses the skills to help them manage difficulty and flourish, and an understanding of how and when to use those skills.
The Sanctuary is delighted to have been working in partnership with the UK based MiSP (Mindfulness in Schools Project) over the past number of years, bringing the teacher trainer for mindfulness-based .b [dot-be] programme for 11-18 year olds to Ireland.
An Outline Of The Courses Available
What is .b?
.b is a 10-week course for young people aged 11-18, delivered in the classroom or in small groups within other youth-related settings.
.b has primarily been designed for use in the classroom with what we would call ‘conscript’ audiences of 11-18 year olds, although it can also be used equally effectively in other settings.
At the most simple level .b is an awareness-raising exercise to give all students a taste of mindfulness so that they know about it and can return to it later in life if they think it might help. However, for many pupils the course can relatively quickly lead to very positive outcomes: they feel calmer and more fulfilled; they can concentrate better; they have a toolkit to deal with stress and anxiety. Objectives and outcomes are discussed in more detail below.
What is Paws .b?
Paws b is for children aged 7 -11 and is offered formally as a series of PSHE lessons, and informally through integrating the learning and practice of mindfulness in all National Curriculum subjects and in the children’s everyday lives.
It is a primary school version of .b and was developed thanks to a core development team of Tabitha Sawyer and Rhian Roxburgh, teachers at Ysgol Pen Y Bryn and Sarah Silverton, a senior mindfulness teacher and trainer with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University in Wales.

What is .b Foundations?
.b Foundations is a course designed by Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) for school staff to train in mindfulness.
If a more mindful culture in schools is to become a reality, a groundswell of staff exploring and practising mindfulness is essential.
MiSP created .b Foundations for this purpose. Offering a fresh take on the traditional 8-week MBSR/CT curriculum and approach we aim to make mindfulness as accessible and effective as possible for adults in school settings.
