Mindfulness Workshop With Barry Lee

Mindfulness Workshop With Barry Lee

This workshop is Onsite

Workshop Description: Join Barry Lee here at the Sanctuary for this very special workshop.

Often, there is a perception that mindfulness is only about managing stress. Most people are first drawn to it for that very reason. It does help with stress. The research shows that practicing mindfulness can help us to be more resilient. We can learn to respond skillfully in the midst of a difficult experience instead of reacting impulsively out of habit. However, this is only half the story.

In this workshop we will shift the emphasis to discovering how the practice of mindfulness can help us to be more present for pleasant, nourishing experiences in our lives. We will learn how mindfulness helps us to “connect” more deeply with the natural world and also with each other. In the workshop we will experiment with a variety of interactive exercises and nature connection practices. It will be helpful if you have some prior meditation experience but not strictly necessary.

One word of caution – Sometimes practicing meditation can be challenging. If you are going through any especially difficult experience in your life right now, like a recent bereavement or a mental health crisis, it would be important to let us know. We can inform the facilitator who will contact you to discuss if it’s the right time for you to participate in this mini-retreat.
