Exploring the healing potential of Creativity
A six week series of creative workshops
facilitated through the modality of Art Therapy exercises
As humans, it is our privilege to have access to an internal well-spring of creative potential within us. This series of workshops at the Sanctuary invites you to explore the potential you hold within through the use of directive art therapy exercises where basic art materials and self-reflection will deepen your sense of self for the sake of your personal, and possibly, your professional self.
The overall aim of the series is to promote wellbeing and personal growth, and will be relevant to anyone choosing to challenge their current understanding of self as well as experience themselves on an emotional, cognitive, spiritual and behavioural level.
If you are intrigued by the exploration, freedom and permission inherent within art and mark-making, this course may be a buoyant and beautiful way to be with the self, in the company of others.
Each session will begin with a grounding exercise and mindful invitation for you to be in the room. The series will include a creative art therapy experiential exercise each week. There will be time for reflection at the beginning and end of each session.
As we begin, we will look at what we need to have in place in order to have a sense of safety in a group setting. We will be exploring a sense of self using creative and non-verbal means of expression to promote experiential learning. As the series proceeds, we will consider what change may mean in one’s life. How does one get needs met in away that is useful and healthy ?
We will look at our sameness and our difference in this world we share, and move on to owning our own strengths and weaknesses, as we acknowledge the depth of learning available in this experience.
How then, with new discoveries, does one deepen self-awareness and employ a greater level of self-care?
This invitation is for you to tap into your curiosity, find courage, and is available to you as a personal exploration of the self.
This series is not a therapeutic intervention and requires no previous art experience.
All materials will be supplied.
