"Can we find a place in the middle, where one is neither overcome by emotion nor repressing emotional states? That is a place of discovery, exploration, and enrichment". Sharon Salzburg
A five-week journey towards a wiser, kinder relationship with your emotional life.
Our emotions shape every aspect of our lives, yet many of us were never taught how to work with them skilfully. This five-week course combines mindfulness, compassion and contemporary psychology to help you develop practical tools for meeting difficult emotions with greater awareness, kindness and wisdom.
Each week introduces a new practice while building on the last, creating a strong foundation for emotional wellbeing that can support you long after the course has ended.
Learn the foundations of mindfulness and discover how simply recognising and naming our experience can begin to reduce overwhelm. Through the practice of "Name it to Tame it" (mental noting), you'll learn to observe thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations with greater clarity, creating space between yourself and your emotions.
Awareness alone is not enough—we also need warmth. This week explores self-compassion as a powerful resource for emotional resilience. Through a compassionate body scan and guided imagery practice, you'll learn to respond to difficult emotions with the same kindness and understanding you would naturally offer a good friend.
When we stop fighting our emotions, they begin to teach us. Using the RAIN practice, we'll cultivate a deeper understanding of the beliefs, needs and patterns that lie beneath our emotional experience. Insight allows us to move beyond simply reacting, helping us respond with greater freedom and understanding.
Wisdom emerges when mindfulness, compassion and insight come together. This week explores how we can remain steady in the midst of difficult emotions while also intentionally cultivating positive emotional states through practices drawn from positive neuroplasticity. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult emotions, we learn to hold them within a broader landscape of balance, resilience and wellbeing.
The final week brings everything together. We'll reflect on what we've learned and explore how mindfulness, compassion, insight and wisdom can become an integrated way of living, rather than simply practices we do. Together we'll create a personal roadmap for continuing the journey, developing a sustainable approach to meeting life's inevitable joys and challenges with greater presence, courage and an open heart.
