Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher

Riana commenced her initialthree-year (600 hour) yoga teacher training in 1999 with the Irish YogaAssociation (IYA). Soon afterwards she completed Post Grad Diploma studies withthe Irish Yoga Association (IYA), and also Post Grad Diploma studies with YogaTherapy Ireland (YTI). She has been teaching and engaged in further studies eversince.

 

More recently, in 2019 she fulfilled therequirements of Anusara® Inspired Yoga Teacher(200+ hours). This a dynamic andexpressive branch of Hatha yoga aligning body, heart, mind and uniquelyintegrates deep spiritual teachings with principles of alignment to support an accessible,uplifting practice. Riana continues her Anusara® studies attending trainings, workshops,continuous professional development and retreats.

Her teaching incorporates key themes and concepts from yoga philosophy, and at the heart of the mindful Hatha yoga practice is Yoga Sutra 1.2 ‘yoga chitta vritti nirodhah’ - ‘yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind’. So too is the inner and outer lightness and joy experienced when body, heart and mind are in harmony. Awareness of the breath is a constant reference point, enabling a sense of spaciousness and a balanced, grounded connection while we practice yoga as a gentle strength. Her mindful Hatha yoga class caters for the physical uniqueness of each participant and provides a practice accessible to everybody.
