Sacred Stillness - NEW!

Red Stripe Press is proud to announce the publication of Sr Stan’s final book, Sacred Stillness: A Book of Meditations from the Sanctuary. Unfortunately Sr Stan never got to see a copy of Sacred Stillness in print, but even in her final weeks she was busy finalising the details of the book. Working with her long-time friend and collaborator Síle Wall, the two compiled a book of meditations, to offer to the world real, practical, profound and creative meditation practices through a variety of themes and poems. As they explain in their introduction to the book, ‘Our hope is that these meditations and poems will evoke a stirring of your heart, bringing you into a closer relationship with yourself, the world you are part of and your God, offering you a pathway into stillness where you will find sanctuary.’ Sacred Stillness is intended to provide the reader with numerous ways to connect, and reconnect, with stillness, away from our always-on world of constant distraction, and to offer a pathway into stillness where sanctuary can be found. Sister Stan Kennedy was a member of the congregation of the Religious Sisters of Charity and a well-known social campaigner and bestselling author. She founded a number of voluntary organisations, such as Focus Ireland, the Immigrant Council of Ireland and Young Social Innovators. She also co-founded the Sanctuary to provide a reflective space for people in our frantic, busy world. She passed away on 3 November 2025, while her final book was printing. Síle Wall is a fellow member of the congregation of the Religious Sisters of Charity, and co-founded the Sanctuary with Sr Stan in 1998 to provide a reflective, meditative space in our busy world. Her background is in social work, community work and art therapy. She has been practising meditation for many years and at the Sanctuary she teaches and leads workshops, courses and practices on meditation and mindfulness.
