Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga that incorporates principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with asana practice. It is rooted in the Taoist concept of Yin and Yang: Yin representing stable, passive and receptive energy, while Yang represents dynamic, active and expressive energy.
Yin is very different from many other styles of yoga. Most poses are practised seated or lying on the floor and are held for longer periods of time, generally between 3 and 6 minutes.
The practice can offer physical, energetic, mental and emotional benefits, while also creating space for personal andspiritual exploration. The benefits you experience will depend on your ownintentions and relationship with the practice.
